HVAC Diffuser Installation Guidelines
1) Ensure Active Airflow
For optimal diffusion, the HVAC system must be operating—either the AC or blower fan must be turned on. If the system is off, the aroma mist will remain in the ductwork and fail to disperse into the intended space. Prolonged diffuser operation without active airflow may cause scent accumulation within the ducts, leading to potential damage to the diffuser or air handler system.
2) Adjust Scent Intensity for HVAC Volume
HVAC-based installations generally require 5-10% higher intensity settings compared to standalone diffuser setups. This is due to the extended volume of ductwork the aroma must travel through, which can result in minor diffusion loss. In contrast, standalone units cover smaller, contained areas with faster scent delivery.
3) Optimal Placement of the Diffuser
Install the diffuser in a location with adequate clearance near the air ducts, ensuring convenient access and maintenance. The ideal tube insertion point is after the air handler and before the first air register (refer to the system diagram). Position the diffuser away from the air handler body to avoid airflow interference and system disruption.
4) Maintain Proper Tube Orientation
The connection tube between the diffuser and duct should be kept as short and vertically aligned as possible. Avoid any sagging or dips in the tubing, as these can cause essential oil accumulation, increasing the risk of blockages and equipment damage. Insert the diffuser tube approximately 3–4 inches into the duct, with a gentle downward pitch (~10%) to support smooth aroma flow and prevent backflow or oil pooling.
5) Choose an Appropriate Environment
Place the diffuser in a dry, clean, and moisture-free area, near a reliable 110V power outlet. Avoid locations exposed to excessive heat, humidity, or restricted airflow. Use aluminum HVAC tape to properly insulate the tube’s duct opening. Secure the tube to a rigid section of the duct or framing to minimize movement or vibration, ensuring stable and efficient operation.
